How do you spend quality time with your family? Game nights, movie nights, or something else? Well, if it’s movie nights, then you would agree that there is nothing better than grabbing some popcorn or nachos and enjoying a family movie!
The only problem? Deciding on a movie everyone will enjoy. Despite being family, everyone will have different tastes, likes, and interests. So, how are you going to decide which movie to watch?
Well, this is exactly the kind of problem we have encountered multiple times as well, which is why we have a solution for this. While it may seem like a project to get everyone to agree on one film, you can easily do so if it is a film from childhood. Old movies and films like the classic Home Alone, or animated ones like 101 Dalmatians, are all part of growing up, and no matter what will always hold a place in your heart.
So, we have decided to dedicate this article to such movies, so that you can all enjoy your family night without any chaos and destruction. But before we get into the list of movies, it is essential that we talk about where you can find them.
While streaming on the internet is always an option, you can also find most of these movies on TV channels like Disney Channel, and many more. These channels, you can find on the Spectrum Select TV lineup.
Now that that’s over with, it’s time to move on to the list, and see which movies you can watch and enjoy with your family. Note that there is no particular order to this list and all the movies are equally enjoyable depending on your preferences. Most of these movies you might have already watched before, but there is no reason to not enjoy a good movie again.
The Greatest Showman
Okay, so not all the movies are from your childhood, however, there are a few exceptions that can be made. The first one on this list is none other than The Greatest Showman. This movie, or should we say musical, is the dramatization of the P.T. Barnum and his rise to fame with his circus.
However, just like many dramatizations, everything happening in this musical is not necessarily true. With a bit of history, you are also getting some entertainment and that’s why it makes the perfect movie for family night. Oh, and did we mention that Zac Efron, Zendaya, and Hugh Jackman are all part of this movie?
Daddy Day Care
Who doesn’t like a good movie about fathers looking after their own children? Well, in this case, it’s not just their own children, but also other children as well. When a father is let go from his job, he has the grand idea of turning his home into a children’s daycare and working alongside two of his friends to look after the children.
What seems like a good idea to him, quickly turns into a disaster when he realizes children are more devious and messy than he imagined. However, that is not enough of a reason for him to give up and so, he continues to try and come up with hacks to get the children to behave and be good-mannered. It is a wonderful movie that will undoubtedly make you laugh and be especially relatable to parents!
Toy Story
Ah yes, what’s a Pixar-Disney movie without the subtle adult jokes? Well, Toy Story is also one of them. With a great storyline, the movie easily makes it on the favorites list for many adults and kids.
Ever since its first part was released in 1995, the movie has gained a lot of attention and love from thousands of fans across the globe, which led to more sequels released in 1999, and 2010.
Nine years after that, in 2019, the fourth sequel was released for this franchise and it had many fans and people going back to the cinemas to relive their childhood and see what the future held in store for their favorite toys. This movie is great as you can binge-watch all the parts with your family and enjoy the toys’ journey from one home to the other.
Home Alone
How can we forget this classic movie about a family forgetting their son when going for a Christmas family trip? While the eight-year-old boy is doing completely fine living by himself and even going shopping, the family struggles with trying to get back to their little boy.
Chaos ensues when the boy realizes that there are some robbers in the area who are looking to rob his home and they soon realize that the boy is home alone making him completely vulnerable. The movie has three more sequels and can be binge-watched and enjoyed on your movie night along with the kids!
Wreck-It Ralph
Released in 2012, this animated movie is similar to the arcade games that we so love to this day. While we have much more advanced games today, we still look back and love to play the classics such as Packman every once in a while.
This animated movie’s focus is games like this and with their attractive animation style, they have managed to bring these characters to life. Ralph, a game villain, is anything but a mean guy and really wants to get a medal for doing something good. However, being the outcast, even in his own game, he decides to go to another game and get the medal he wants, but of course, it’s not so simple and he ends up in a mess and unwillingly joins forces with a little girl in a candy racing game to get what he wants.
Jumanji
While the new Jumanji movies are fun to watch as well, nothing beats the original! To be clear, the 1995 movie is full of action and humor and really gets you excited anticipating what happens next. And of course, when Robin Williams is part of the cast, you can’t help but think the movie is going to be packed with humor. In a dangerous, life-threatening board game, two kids, and two adults are in for a ride!
Despicable Me
Another great movie showcasing a father’s love for his adopted three girls. Oh, and he also happens to be a villain. If this isn’t enough of a twist to the story, then maybe the sequel will take you by surprise.
This movie is followed by two sequels and even a prequel. There is a second prequel as well that is all set to be released this year. The characters and the movie are well-received and loved by audiences around the world, especially the yellow banana-loving minions that you might have seen here and there. The movie is perfect to binge-watch on family movie nights along with popcorn and drinks.
Conclusion
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and this list is one of them. There are, of course, a ton more movies to reminisce and enjoy, however, you will most probably find that in another article or the second part of this article. Until then, we’ll be on our way to go and enjoy these movies with our families, while you do the same!
