5 Most Awaited Movies in the Year 2018

top 5 movies

If you love to invest your weekends into movies like most of us do, you’ve come to the right place! I’ve got more good news for you: 2018 looks to be another exciting year at the movies. That means your watchlist, which is probably already pretty long, is going to get even longer. There are many Supeheroes flick going to release in the coming year including, Deadpool, Antman & highly anticipated Avengers Infinity War. But here is my list for the movie4me we haven’t mentioned them, as they are the sequels and everyone might not be interested in that. So lets start the list of movies I can’t wait to enjoy this year on big screen.

The Beach Bum

It has been five years since Spring Breakers. Now, Harmony Korine is back with a cheeky stoner comedy starring Matthew McConaughey and Isla Fisher called The Beach Bum. McConaughey plays a narcotically tranquil guy named Moondog, who does not care to abide by society’s rules and regulations. Likely a continuation of the relative restraint (well, for him) Korine displayed in Spring Breakers, we suspect.

Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot

Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot is an upcoming American comedy-drama based on the autobiography of the same name by John Callahan. The emotive, shrewd, and at times quite humorous novel about the healing power of art is being translated to the screen by Academy Award nominated director Gus Van Sant. The cast comprises of many stars, including Joaquin Phoenix, Jonah Hill, Rooney Mara, and Jack Black. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last January, and will be released by Amazon Studios worldwide on July 13th.

The film portrays John Callahan, who has an immense longing for life, an aptitude for salacious jokes, and a drinking problem. He aims to quit drinking after a terrible car accident, but his attempts are half-hearted at best. Rooney Mara plays his reassuring girlfriend, and Jonah Hill plays his charming sponsor.

First Man

This period drama is based on the book First Man: The Life of Neil Armstrong, by James R. Hansen. As you might expect, the film is going to be a look at  astronaut Neil Armstrong’s life, predominantly focusing on his iconic space mission which made him the first man ever to walk on the moon in 1969.

After the embarrassing mix-up at last year’s Oscars, you could understand why La La Land director Damien Chazelle would want to leave Earth for a while. With First Man, the director reunites with Ryan Gosling, who will play the famed astronaut. The rest of the star cast includes Claire Foy, Kyle Chandler, and Corey Stoll as Buzz Aldrin.

High Life

Another one of the most anticipated films of 2018 is High Life, a sci-fi adventure/drama written and directed by Claire Denis. This will be the first English-language film for Denis, who has cultivated a solid reputation in France, after a career of acclaimed films, including Beau Travail and The Intruder. Denis wrote the screenplay with her frequent collaborator Jean-Pol Fargeau, along with the husband-and-wife-team of Nick Laird and Zadie Smith, both of whom are acclaimed novelists. Robert Pattinson, Juliette Binoche, and Mia Goth will play the leading roles. The story of the film revolves around a group of criminals who may be freed if they embark on a trip into space to explore a black hole in order to discover an alternative energy source. They will be experimented on by a scientist on board.

If Beale Street Could Talk

If you’re director Barry Jenkins, how do you follow a game-changing Best Picture winner like Moonlight? With a film based on a novel by the legendary James Baldwin. If Beale Street Could Talk revolves around a newly engaged woman in Harlem, who is racing against the clock to prove her fiancé innocent of a crime, all while carrying their first unborn child. It’s a festival of affection recounted through the narrative of a young couple, their families, and their lives.

James Baldwin’s novel carries substantial weight. However, gauging by his previous work, Jenkins looks like the right choice to tackle the material. The film will star Dave Franco and Regina King.
